Does anyone know why SF6 might not be syncing with an external midi clock? I have searched this forum and the question has come up in the past, but with no resolution. I have the regions/playlist toolbar up and when I click on the "Trigger from MIDI/MTC" button it says "waiting..." in the status window. I go into record, and hit prepare. When I hit play on my external sequencer, nothing happens - except I can see the control signals in that same window, so I know there is a good connection. Also I have this demo copy of n-track which seems to work fine syncing with the midi clock.

Any hints?

JasonDubya,

If SF 6 is the same as 5.0h then it does not really sync to MIDI clock. It "triggers" from controller messages. I went through the same and probably more research steps you did and finally got it to work by assigning a controller number and value to start/stop and saving it in SF under MIDI sync to an unused controller number then in my sequencer inserting that controller number and value at the start of the track. I love SF but I must say this is an absurd way of handling the most basic of MIDI functions.

Forge will trigger to MIDI Time Code.

There isn't much point in syncing to MIDI Clock in Forge. Forge does not follow tempo information so it would be pointless to have it listen to MIDI clock. MIDI Clock is a continuous stream of "ticks" that could not be use to trigger start/stop or other functionality.

Perhaps MIDI Start/stop/continue msgs could be useful.
