Warning!! I'm new to this whole thing so...If I'm asking a stupid question, please be patient!! I purchased Sound Forge (SF) so I could edit my mp3's, which I did. I was all happy and proud of myself til i popped the CD into the surround sound system and it sounds awful!! I'm assuming its because SF only has 2 channels and the surround sound has 5. Is this correct?? Anyone know why or what I can do to fix this problem? |

MP3 only has 2 channels. The problem is more like you have your surround receiver set to the incorrect setting. Try setting it to "Dolby Pro Logic II" or "Logic 7" or even "V-max" if your receiver has it. These settings will take 2 channels and make a surround simulation based on the phase information within the 2 channels. Dolby pro Logic I will probably not be the best choice of playback, because it was designed with movies in mind and will tend to do abnormal things with music. Logic 7 was designed with a musical playback surround intent and so was Dolby Pro Logic II. Logic 7 sounds a little better to me, but my opinion is a bit biased, because I work for the company that designed Logic 7 and have read the reviews of Dolby Pro Logic II by our developers and talked to the engineers of Dolby. |
