Subject:96khz VS. 44.1khz with ASIO

I'm a little confused. If I'm running a project using 96khz I get better latency (roughly 8ms) through my ASIO driver. When I run a project using 44.1khz I get a worse latency (roughly 20-30ms). So should I run my projects at 96khz all of the time? Will doing this tax the CPU more? Is it a no-brainer? Why would I use 44.1khz when I can use 96khz and get better latency? Someone please clarify.

It's a factor of your latency sample size and how many samples per second you are working with. Leave it at 44.1kHz and try cutting your latency sample size in half.

I believe that the higher the sample rate, the quicker the samples are read per second (I think I worded that right), resulting in a lower latency. However, that means your system would need more processing power to sling the data. It would definitely tax the CPU more.
