One thing I just figured out is that If you're converting soundfonts to DLSs with Awave Studio, and then you want to tweak the DLS files, you're better off converting and saving the files first, then opening them again to tweak them. Some of the layering in particular gets changed in the translation. For instance, stereo files in soundfonts have separate right and left layers, but after converting, saving and reopening the DLS files, right and left layers are merged into easier to work with stereo layers. Awave seems to have a superset of parameters, some of which are not relevant when working with a particular format. Reopening the files after a conversion at least puts you in the right ball park.
