Ok, I've recently trashed my old Audigy for a new Audiophile 2496 and I'm still getting those terrible stutters that crash Acid. It only happens when I've got a song with a considerable amount of tracks playing at the same time. It plays fine when I use the MME drivers (although the cursor and timer practically lock up). There has to be a problem between Acid and the ASIO drivers. The stutters start out faint and then begin to build while the song gradually slows to a dead stop and then the program crashes. What's up with this? I've messed around with my DMA buffer settings within the audio card's control panel but I get the same results regardless.

Are you using any FX plugins on this project? If so, which ones?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling ACID. Be sure everything Audigy-related is uninstalled.

Have you thought about completely formatting your system? Even if you uninstall all that related junk for the Audigy (like all those "wonderful" utilities Creative thinks you need), it's still in your system as Registry residue.

When you get the chance in the future, upgrade to Windows 2000 or XP. (Get more RAM on top of it all too.) They're much more stable operating systems. I can attest that Windows XP owns Windows 98 SE in the performance department. (Using a PIII 800EB MHz w/384 MB RAM.)

I've had ASIO driver issues with the Audiophile too, but M-Audio has since released betas that work quite well with ACID 4.0. Unfortunately, they seem to be only for 2000/XP users.

It seems to do it more when I'm using various FX plugins. I can't name which ones off the top of my head.
