Subject:The Specified audio editor can not be opened

I get this error whenever I try to edit a wav with an external editor. I previously had Acid 2.0d, then tried the 3.0 demo and now the 4.0a demo. None of them are able to use either Goldwave or Soundforge 6.0

I'm running windows xp on an 800mhz athlon with 512 ram. This started after I formatted 2 weeks ago and tried installing Acid2.0d again. I got a message about unable to update something because it was 16 bit file or something, don't have the exact error. Acid installed anyways, then i started getting error when I tried to use an audio editor. I figured the upgrade to 3 or 4 would take care of it, but it didn't. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling in every form and fashion.

Right now I have only the Acid 4.0a installed with Soundforge 6.0. I've looked all over for answers and haven't found any. I've got about 12 hours now invested in trying to correct this problem. Any one have any suggestions or ideas or gotten this before?

Thank you

In Acid Pro 4, you need to go to Options|Preferences|Editing and set your audio editor path.

I did that. I have it set to Soundforge 6.0 first then Goldwave 2nd. I've tried it with either/or and made sure the paths were correct. it's really mind-boggling.
