Subject:Recording as 32 bit, 24 bit, or 16 bit

Hi I record from my turntables to my computer using RCA cables. I've read that 32 bit recording will produce a cleaner sound then 24 or 16 bit. However when I record at 32 or 24 bit and play my recording back, it makes a pop/distorted noise everytime the bass hits. I've recorded at very low levels just to make sure my levels aren't too high. When I record at the exact same level on 16 bit, the popping/distorted sound goes away. Why is this? Also is the sound difference really that much better at 32 bit as opposed to 16 bit? If I were to burn a 32 bit recording to a CD to play in my car, do CD's support 32 bit?

Any Help would be greatly appreciated!!

What kind of soundcard do you have?

CD's do not support 32bit. CD's are 16 bit, with a sampling frequency of 44.1Khz. Your sound card may not support playback of 32bit or 24 bit files, so that may be the reason why you get the popping noise.
