Just curious--

If I open an .avi file in SF & work on it, will the video quality be degraded? I'm concerned about uncompressing then recompressing the video if I'm only working on the audio portion...

Yes and no. Use the original video for the final, and the one on SF just for monitoring. There are playback quality parameters you can adjust. Just replace the audio portion of your project.
