Subject:recording into SF "microsoft sound mapper does not support one of these format parameters"

Had to get a new soundcard recently so I have been reconfiguring my system to this device but I can't record into soundforge. It says Microsoft Sound Mapper recording device does not support one or more of current format parameters (sample rate, number of channels or bits per sample) Never had this problem before. Am I meant to tick some box somewhere? Would really appreciate any advice Thanks Eoin |

Select a differnt sample freq. and bit rate. Do this in the record window. Ctrl+R -New. Some sound cards only support 44.1/16. To select a differnt sound card: Options/Preferences-Wave Select from the appropriate sound card(s)for recording and playback. If they are not listed, make sure the drivers are installed. |

Thanks but I've already tried both these suggestions. The sample rate is 44.1 16 bit already. i've tried to lower sample rates but get the same message. I've also tried setting the card in preferences to my DS-XG Hoon Tech Yamaha chip card but get the same message "ds-xg does not support..." WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? |

Does this problem arise with other app.s, ( try the MS/Windows sound recorder or somthing else? If the other app.s sound ok, then it's with SF. If not it could be a setting somewhere with the sound card. See the sound card Help files. |
