Hi Everyone-Just getting started here, took the tutorials and read the manual but a bit confused here at the moment, appreciate ur patience. There is most likely a simple answer to my question and if anyone is able to fill me in I am very grateful in advance. Here it is:

After selecting a region or area of audio on a wav file in Sound Forge 6.0, and intending on editing it however different ways-what I am wondering is if there is a way to slow down the selection but for editing purposes only-the mark i am trying to make, delete, add, or even find goes faster of course the more magnification I apply-but I need that magnification to find the exact spot in the display-

Am I making sense? confusing myself I think-basically I just want to edit at a slower speed but save at the normal rate-is this possible and how do u do it if it is?
Thanks to anybody that has an answer-Have a great day-See Ya from the SF East Bay-Troy Scott

I think i understand what you mean. You'd like to edit your tape while it's running at 3.75ips instead of 15ips so that you can locate the edit point on the playback head easier, but then have it play back at normal speed when you're done editing, right?

Try this one for size: go to Process / Resample, set a new sample rate (if your recording is 44100 then setting it to 22050 will play back half speed) and put a checkmark next to "Set the sample rate only". This will alter ONLY the speed at which the file plays; it won't change anything else. It's also just about instantaneous. When you're done editing, set the sample rate back to the original speed, again making sure that "Set the sample rate only" is checked, and you'll be back to normal.
