1) Practically impossible 2) Very bad 3) If, and ONLY if, the vocal is recorded just about dead center, and the accompaniment is very stereo, then: a) highlight one of the channels, copy it. b) paste this into a new mono file c) invert this new file d) highlight the other channel, copy it e) paste/mix this channel on top of the new mono file This will mix the two channels together "out of phase" and you'll end up with a mono file in which everything that was identical in both channels (hopefully the vocal) will cancel out, leaving the rest behind. In actual practice, this really doesn't work well at all. |

Isn't there alot of kareoke CDs already available on the market? Can you not buy those? You would have a MUCH better end product. Unless you're looking to have kareoke versions of some Marilyn Manson songs, those might be harder to find. :) ¢¢ |

Hey MyST! ... this is terribly off-topic, but, how's your new house working out? Got your computer room set up and running now? I just moved into my new place about two weeks ago and converted a spare bedroom over to office/computer lab. Nice to have a spot dedicated just to that :) |

How's it working out?? I've got the room ready, but a couple things have happened that are slowing me down quite a bit. First, it seems that I neglected to make enough room for storage when I designed the basement. It doesn't help that my girlfriend has TONS of stuff we need to find room for (72 moving boxes for her alone!). So right now, there are still some boxes in the computer room. Second, I haven't had time to build my desk yet, so my PC is on her tiny "PC workstation". You know the kind, 49$ and just enough room for the monitor. Third, and this is the biggy, I've had PC troubles that might be due to a hard-drive going bad. If I shut down the PC overnight, Windows refuses to load the next morning, giving me a error something like "system 32\driver.sys." I've got someone looking at it now, good news is it might be covered by warranty. I'm really happy the way the room looks with the deep red walls, big window, and glass french door. I work with loop libraries only, so sound infiltration isn't a problem. Thanks for asking Kelly. Tell you what, I'll upload a picture on your site when it's done. M PS: Could you write down the web adresses to your various sites. I'd like to print them out and keep close to my PC. I had made a shortcut to your video sharing site before, but I forgot the adress. Now I've migrated to XP and lost my info. Thanks again. PPS: I'm still hoping to give you a run for your money when I DO get set up (concerning your excellent NIGHTWALK). :) |

www.vegasusers.com is the newest site. I'll be migrating/linking all the SonicFoundry software related stuff here so that there's a single point of entry. The video sharing site is linked from this page. www.chienchat.com real time chat. This is my big baby, the project that takes most of my time and programming effort, and also my "home on the 'net" where everyone knows my name, so to speak. (also known as www.dorkchat.com) www.disgruntledmasses.com for all the whiners ;) It's actually kinda fun to browse through it now and then to see what everyone else's gripes are. www.chienworks.com the old original site. Some interesting stuff here, but a lot of it is moving over to the newer domains. Speaking of which, there's a couple dozen more, but most are for projects that haven't started yet, or fizzled, or are for other people's projects. |
