Is there a way to slow down the playback speed so I can pick the right spot for a cut?

Yes and you can time expand or compress also.
Effects>Pitch Shift or Process>Time Expand
However if used to extream, there will be some undesirable artifacts.

Time stretch does not really work as I do not want to edit the length of the file I just want to slow the playback down so it is easier to find where in the file a break in a conversation is to make a cut. I am trying to put together several takes from an interview and need to splice the conversation together. I may be going about this all wrong but I place a mark in the file where I want to cut and then cut the section out and paste it into a new file that will be the edited interview. If there is a better way to do this please point me to the best source for handling this operation.

Thanks
Andrew

I don't have Studio 6 installed to try this, but this works in the full version. It might be possible in Studio as well:

There's no playback speed control or scrub in Sound Forge, but if you are into cheap and dirty, just temporarily change the sampling rate to something lower in the status bar and change it back once you've found your spot. Your mileage may vary depending on your sound card, but it is worth a try.

Sonic, kewl! I never realized that could be changed so easily.

I just discovered that if you slow down Rachael Weisz (Evelyn from "The Mummy") from 44.1KHz to 37.2KHz, she ends up sounding just like my friend Greg. Scary!

That is perfect, it slows the speed of the playback so I can place a mark easily and then I can put it back to normal. Thanks for the help.
