Subject:Opening AVI files in SF

Hi everyone, I am a new SoundForge user, so am also new to the forums.

I hope this question has not been asked before, I did a search in the forums and did not find the answer.

I am wanting to open AVI videos in Soundforge and capture audio clips from them. However, when I open some of them, it gives me the message "An error occured while opening one or more files. This file is an unsupported format.", while it will open others just fine. Has anyone else ever run into this problem before, and if so, what solutions are there?

I love this product, and have been reading the Forums for a few days, and love them also. You people seem very helpful, and I hope you can help me with my problem.

Thank you for all your help,

Gump

I'm not sure which version you are using, or what the specifics of the file are, but Sound Forge can only open compressed WAV/AVI files if the proper Windows acm and icm codecs are installed on your system. See if the AVI will play in MediaPlayer. If so, you'll probably want to contact tech support.
