Subject:Can somebody answer my question please - second attempt!

When trying to record audio I am getting small but frequent pops and clicks.

I think its because my soundcard (Digidesign AM3) doesnt have the best drivers for Windows and as a result I need to increase the buffer size. However, is the highest I can get this 1472Kb in the Wave option in 'Preferences'?

I think I need it higher than this. Is there anything I can do?
I am using SoundForge 5.0.

Thanks

I have not have to deal with this issue, the default settings have always worked fine for me in the buffer settings, with my Echo Gina Cards. I have read where some users have lowered the buffer size and it made the pops and clicks go away.....so you might want to try going in that direction and see if it improves. Also, in the preferences window, try selecting the Digidesign AC3 driver or windows sound mapper...switching between the 2 to see which gives you the least amount of noise. You also might want to check to see if you have the latest drivers for your video cards OS. Video cards are a well known source of audio pops and sluggishness, due to a bad driver.

True ... a large buffer size can cause CPU bottle-necking, which can cause clicks and pops. It can also be slow hard disk drives.

This can also be caused by IRQ conflicts. You might check your device manager to see if your sound card is sharing interrupts with anything else.
