I had a basic question about editing vocals. Now obviously it depends on the voice, but what are some basic things I can do to clear up vocals using sound forge 5.0??

Depends what you mean by 'clear up' . To remove use http://www.anaolgx.com Vremover, which does an excellent job of removing centre image vox.

If you want to alter the voice tone, use Effects | EQ . Often attenuating lower frequencies makes things seem 'cleaner'.
