I can open mp3 files in Sound Forge Studio XP 5.0
Why i cannot open my MP3 files in Sound forge 6 ??

It says : "Warning : An error occurred while opening one or more files.
The file is unsupported format."

Are there any plugins required to open mp3 files ?

thanks

I had a similar problem after having to re-install my OS and apps. I couldn't open an mp3 in any SF app. I got the error you have. Uninstalling and re-installing didn't help (Vegas, Forge, Acid). What I finally did was uninstall and then manually go through the registry and delete everything to do with Sonic Foundry (a lot was left) and then re-installed. That fixed it. I guess a DLL for mp3 support was registered wrong somewhere. The solution would have been easier had I known the specific entry to remove.

I don't know if this would work for you but it did for me. I posted the same question you did and never got a reply here, so I was glad to find something that worked.
