So here's the situation... Previously had SF4.5 installed on D:/ drive - said drive died and cd drive exploded. New hard-drive installed and new cd drive installed - however the cd drive is the "D" drive and the new hard drive is the "E" drive. When I try to install Sound Forge 4.5 after entering the serial number I get the following error message: "Unable to determine the previous installations directory" and setup quits. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions as how I get around this. Thank You... Fed-up in Wisconsin Dells |

You may have to uninstall SoundForge to remove the information Windows has about where it used to be. Then try installing again. |

What OS are you running? If you are running 2000 or up you can change the drive letters using Computer Management/Storage Manager. |

Now that i think of it some more, how did you get the CD drive to be D: ? As far as i know, DOS/Windows always defaults to assigning all non-removable drives first, starting with drive C: (reserving A: and B: for floppy drives), then assigns removable media drives with letters after the hard drives. Strange. I know from 98 and above you can manually assign drive letters to removable media, but you can't change them to be before hard drives. |
