Subject:recording vocals over the beat

ok im new to sound forge I have no idea how to record my vocals over the beat. what im doing now is recording my vocals on another window then copy and mixing it on to the beat. also when i record is there a way to hear my vocals through the headphones, im talking about while i record not during playback? someone help!!!!!

Sound Forge can only record one stereo track at a time, as it's not a multitracker like Vegas. (If you've got Sound Forge 6.0, Vegas 3.0 LE comes with it for free.)

You want to monitor while recording? You should be able to do that either by routing to an external mixer, or use your soundcard's internal software mixer. Take a look.
