Subject:4.5 compatability with windows xp

We just put in xp in our computer but I can't get music out of the media player into sound forge. I downloaded direct x web set up and sound for 4.5 xp upgrade. I ran the direct x and went fine. However when i tried to run the upgrade 4.5 the computer tells me: "set up will only upgrade sound forge xp 4.5 installation, contact sonic foundry".

How can I get this to work. Your advice is greatly apprecitated.
