Subject:XP Studio 5: Sticky "Searching for Audio Plug-Ins" on Startup

Anyone run into this problem? I don't know what's triggered it. When I start XP Studio 5 (I'm running it under Windows 98 on a Pentium 700 with 512MB of RAM), the splash page comes up, the "Searching for Audio Plug-Ins" .dll starts, and then the whole thing hangs for 30, 40, 60 seconds or more. Eventually, XP Studio 5 opens, but the "Searching for Audio Plug-Ins" message won't go away, and I have to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del to shut it down manually. After searching the support FAQs for anything relating to this problem, I've tried going into RegEdit and deleting the DX Plugins folder, but the folder doesn't exist to begin with. |

Goto this website, there's a free piece of software called "DXman", which will allow you to individually remove any plugins that appear in your DX registry. http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/dxman.htm You shouldn't be having this problem, so maybe there is something wrong in your registry. Basically everytime you open Sound Forge it will check to see if any new programs have been installed, thus a change in your registry. If it sees that there is a change in your registry it will do the "Scan for audio plugins" that you keep seeing. So basically anytime you install a new program on your PC, Sound Forge will do that Scan for audio plugins on initial launch. If nothing has changed since the last time you ran Sound Forge it shouldn't do that scan. |
