Much like the other folks, I primairly use this software to track out large music files. Good luck so far BUT now I can't open a file which says it's an MP3 file. It comes up with "unknown" as a file type thus making it impossible to work with it. Any ideas??? Newbie user |

No, not the same problem I don't think. I CAN and DO edit MP3 files but others labeled MP3 do not open. I do not get any error message. Just that the file will not open. Under the heading "file type" it says "unknown". This is a legit 6.0 installation. Is this the same problem and I should uninstall, edit reg files? Why will some MP#'s open and others do not? |

I've come across this a few times. In extreme cases, the moment you select the file, SF simply closes down! It's probably a corrupt file, but all is not necessarily lost... will ANYTHING on your PC play the file, such as Windows Media Player? I've often found that although SF won't open a file, it will nonetheless play - if so, you're in business... Either use a wav recorder (there used to be a freebie at www.rawavrecorder.homestead.com - it may still be there) or, better still, use SF to record the output of your sound card. Voila - you now have a WAV file of your corrupt mp3 - save it as an mp3 using SF and junk the original. |
