Subject:Playback is slower than normal

For some reason samples are playing back about 20% slower (and lower pitch) in Sound Forge 6.0 I have ACID Pro 4.0 and the samples play perfectly both in preview and when dropped into a track, however the same sample plays back slower in SF. These are mp3 and wav files from a sample collection - not ones that I have recorded. This is really driving me mad... I have tried: Reinstalled both SF and ACID and Reinstalled my Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Digital drivers to no avail. Your help would be most appreciated! Jim |

Load the file into SF. Click File > Properties > Format tab, check the "Source" sample rate (probably 44,100 Hz) > Cancel, whatever it is right-click on the sample rate in the status bar (lower right) and set it to it. MJ |

Thanks for the feedback...but the sample rate is exactly the same. In ACID Pro 4.0 the sample sounds fine, its properties are Beatmapped, 00:00:04.783 at 100.3 BPM, Root note: A3, 44,100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo, Uncompressed in SF the file properties are the same except it says that: the Unity Note is C5 it is Uncompressed and it Loops(s): One Shot am really getting frustrated at this.. any more thoughts are very welcome Thanks Jim |

Maybe you have applied a pitch shift or whatever is Acid, but have not *rendered* the resultant wav file. SForge is playing the original media file without the 'bends' that Acid is applying. geoff |

Geoff is right. ACID will take either Loop or Beatmapped files and change their pitch and/or tempo to match the overall project key and tempo. (Beatmapped tracks will not change key by default though.) Render as Geoff suggested (preferably as a WAV) and all should be rectified when you bring it into Sound Forge. HTH, Iacobus |
