hi, I'm new to sound forge. I have a mix saved as an mp3 that I want to split into seperate tracks. can I use sound forge for this? |

I assume you mean split into left and right channels separately . Double-click on the top and bottom of the displayed waveform in turn to highliht each channel, and drag it onto an empty bit of SF window. A new mono file will be created for each. If you want to separate out the individual musical components of an MP3, forget it. They are not encoded separately, ie, is a whole stereo mix only. geoff |

thanks for replying, but maybe I'm not wording the question right. I have a mix that I recorded and I want to put song breaks in it for when I burn it to cd. |

You need to load the MP3 into SF, split off the tracks into separate files, then burn them one at a time. Or do them in CDA or Vegas in DAO mode, importing the whole MP3 and placing track markers at the appropriate points. geoff |
