Hi, [I've tried searching the forum, but can't find any reference to this problem - Apologies if I haven't looked hard enough!] I have a problem when processing soundfiles in SF 5.0f; Partway through processing a soundfile (any process - even things like 'reverse') my entire machine locks (generally about 60% through the soundfile, and again at 99%) for about 10 seconds; then it continues. Ok, so it's not a show-stopping problem (since the process always completes), but it does add a significant amount of time to my soundfile processing (soundfiles tend to be 5-6 minutes long). No other applications are running, although there are bound to be some background tasks I guess... System: P4, 2.4GHz, 533FSB; 256MB DDRAM; Abit BD7ii Motherboard; Windows 98SE Soundfiles are on a Quantum Fireball 10GB, 7200RPM drive; OS is on a Fujitsu 3GB, 5400RPM drive. Soundcard is Maxistudio ISIS (which will be replaced soon, when I move to WinXP) Any pointers/help? Thanks, john.. namke communications out now: 'available from namke communications' 5 track CDr from Fencing Flatworm Recordings |

hi..i was having the same problem, with a very similar system to yours. i fixed this problem by right-clicking on My Computer, going to the Device Manager, and clicking on "hard disks". click on the settings, and make sure that DMA is checked on(enabled). after you restart your computer, your problem should be gone!!! |
