Subject:time stops while recording gets bunched up

when i record the time will stop but the program will keep recording causing the audio to bunch up on the spot that it paused. i have lots of HD space and plenty of RAM. i am recording through my integrated soundcard. might that have any thing to do with it? if not what is my problem? please help. thank you.

Could be the soundcard; some just aren't up to the task. Your video card can contribute to the problem as well. (Video card drivers can hog your system's resources. Try turning down video acceleration.) IRQ sharing can also be an issue.
