Windows Media Player 9 lets me copy tracks from a CD in "Windows Media Audio Lossless" format. This is new to 9, and uses some huge Kbps like 900. I can open the copied file in SF Studio 6.0e, but when I go to save it, I only have the old WMA 8 formats available. How do I get the new(?) 9 format? Thanks, -Ken. |

Short answer, you can't, at least not til 7.0. Long answer, Sound Forge's Windows Media plug-in can't automatically discover and use some new version of Windows Media. It must be updated with the latest Windows Media SDKs that accompany the release. While this will happen for future Sonic Foundry releases, it is unlikely that it will be added to Sound Forge 6.0 at this point. J. |

And while we're on this tangential subject: Will there also be a Sound Forge Studio 7.0? |

I imagine there will be, but it hasn't been decided yet. |

Hey Sonic - I assume you are a SF employee ? How come you don't have the little SF icon in your 'handle' ? Just curious. geoff |

Hey, I *could* just be a private beta tester or something (though the email address gives me away). Actually, I just never went to the trouble to turn it on. But the happy side effects are: (a) no one assumes I'm a moderator (which I'm not) and (b) no one assumes I'm here to provide tech support (which I'm not). So keep it under your hat! <g> J. |
