hello everyone i would appreciate any help or ideas with my problem. ive been using soundforge 5.0 and 6.0 to record tracks. i have successfully recorded and playedback tracks with the following criteria: a mono track, 196KHz sampling rate, and 16 bit depth. however, when i use any other combination of sample rate and bit depth (for instance 96KHZ with 16 bit depth, or 196KHz with 24 bit depth)something very strange happens. instead of recording 1 realtime second = 1 recorded second...it records in tenths of seconds! (ie ten full seconds tick by in real time while the computer records one second of information) thus, when i playback what i have recorded, the program squeezes ten seconds of recorded sound into one playback second and everything is super fast! i have installed the program on an identical system and several otehr different computers and they all work perfectly fine and record and playback at the correct speeds so i assume i changed some option or something that caused this (although this seems like it would have been fixed when i completely erased and reinstalled the program on the computer) anyone have any clue why this is happening...my system has more than enough memory and sound capabilities to run this program so hardware isnt a problem help! |

Sounds like your audio card is allowing Sound Forge to open it at the specified sample rate, but is actually using another. Try changing the playback rate to something lower by right-clicking in the Sound Forge status bar and see which rate gives you the right speed/pitch. J. |

Something rings a vague bell here for me.... I would say that SForge is still being clocked from the 192KHz interface. Open up a new 'record' window, and select a different input (ie MS Mapper). Then close the record dialogue and try playing again. geoff |
