Hey everyone. Last summer I made some recordings of my religion teacher at my school singing some of his favorite songs that we wanted to put on CDs and sell for a fund raiser. A person at my school who is in a band let me use some of his bands equipment. I used my laptop to record the songs, and have had a huge problemthat while monitoring the songs, they came through very clear, but when listening to them once they were recorded there is an extreamly annoying hiss throughout. I've found that they mostly occur on "higher" frequencies. A guitar was used throughout all of the songs. I can't seem (for the life of me) to figure out the Noise Reduction plugin. I have seen, throughout the forums that it says to "select" a region in the recording that you want to cut out, and then it will do it's job. The only problem is that the only time I hear the hiss is when there is stuff that I want to keep! There is only hiss when he is singing, and it's beyond me how I can select "just the hiss" out of the selection and still keep his voice, the guitar, etc. I also have noticed that when playing around with the plugin, there is a beeping noise after I apply the plugin? I realise most of you are probably just shaking your heads here at me, but if any of you can give this clueless amature some advice on what to do it would be MUCH appreciated! Thanks! |

If you would like to clip out a representative section of the recording, say maybe 5 seconds or so where the hiss is worst and another 5 seconds or so during a very quiet section, you can eMail them as .wav files to chien@chienworks.com and i'll see what Noise Reduction settings work well and send those settings back to you. Hiss is also usually high frequencies. Some moderate EQ may be helpful without affecting the rest of the sound too much. |
