Is this a bug (with Sound Forge 5.0f) or do I need a make a settings change that when I play a CD in "Tools", "Extract Audio from CD" the playback is silent (even though I can see the busy light working on the CD-Rom device (Pioneer DVR-A05) and I can transfer the audio. Weird because my CDs DO play with sound in Vegas 4 "Extract Audio from CD"... |

SF 5 CD extraction only supported analog preview. So unless you have the little wire from the CD-ROM connected to your sound card, you won't hear anything. SF 6 previews by reading directly from the CD-ROM like our other applications (including Vegas 4). Analog preview is still available via an internal pref for older drives, but is rarely necessary. Got it, thanks! I've always wondered why that didn't work. Now I know it's because I don't use those pesky analog cables... |

Whatever you do, don't get one of those peaky cables - just another source of potential groundloops and unwanted noise when that input left unmuted (some soundcard *can't* mute that input !). Get "6" instead, you won't regret it... geoff |
