Subject:Well here's a new little wrinkle

Due to a mobo that took a lightning hit, I had to revert back to my older computer. I couldn't just swap in the HD's from the newer one because they were too big for the bios to handle, so I had to start over pretty much from scratch trying to reconstruct the 'daw' components. I loaded 6.0 without any updates, along with DSP-FX Virtual Pack, and popped in my Santa Cruz sound card. Aside from a noticeable slowdown, I was at least able to continue working on some songs I was in the middle of. When I went to preview one of the songs in EZCD Creator - one that I had just saved - it just showed a question mark - it would not play. So I loaded it in SoFo to see what the problem was, and saw that it was in 32 bit format, not 16. I resaved it in 16 and everything was ok. Then I noticed that every single file I was saving, even though it had 16 bit listed in the attributes, was being saved as 32 bit, and obviously at twice the size. I do have the option for 32 bit temporary files checked in SoFo, but I was under the impression that choosing that option only affected the file while processing was going on. I thought after saving the file, and exiting SoFo, the file was dithered back down to 16 bits. Apparently not. I used the same SoFo/DSP-FX Virtual Pack on the other system and never had this problem, but I don't think at that time I had the 32 bit temp file option checked. I know that DSP-FX processes every file in 32 bit, then saves it in 16. If I just try to preview the file after DSP-FX is done, it's fine. The problem only appears after I load it into SoFo and then save it. There are workarounds like using Save As and making sure it saves as 16 bit, since that option is not available when using Save, since no dialogue box comes up for Save. But it would seem that I shouldn't have to do that. I am posting this in case anyone else is having the same problem.

and again ""Wahh..wah..wahhh..wahh..wah"

I never knew anyone that could write in monotone and put you to sleep, like you can. You think you could have dragged that story out any further?
