Hi, folks,
The weirdest thing has happened. All (except three or four) of my sound forge files have disappeared except for the sfk extension ones. And I can't open the sfk extension ones. I keep getting an error message saying that file type is not supported. I'm using SF 4.5. Always have. When I try to open them in another program, say Real Audio or Windows Media, they don't open there either. When I try to open them right from their folder, they point to Sound Forge, but then I get that error message again.
Lots of stuff lost if I can't open these. (Of course, I can't imagine where the regular files disappeared to!!!!) Anyone have any ideas?? I'd sure appreciate any help.

the SFK files only contain specific information about the wave data, but they don't contain the wave data itself. so, if you don't have the .wav file that goes with the .sfk file then the .sfk has no source file to apply its information to.

in other words, the sfk files are useless without the wav files. if you've lost the wav files or deleted them, then i'm afraid there's nothing more you can do about that...

Thanks so much for your quick reply and explanation. Danged if I know what happened to those files!!! I'm dumbfounded, and very sad. :-(
Thanks though.

Last resort...

Run Find > Files or Folders for "*.wav" no quotes, on all drives. This will find all wav files on the PC. Maybe they will turn up.
