hi when i use sound forge to record fine but when i play back music i get a pop and crackling every now and then ...computer pentuim 2 400 mhz 196 RAM sound card sound blaster 5.1 iam trying to do a mix but cant burn cds for this cause i get pops etc on they recored stuff i dont get pops etc when playing back other muisc only wot i have recorded my self ..is there away of getting ridd of these pops etc wot must i do ...any help would be most thankfull ..yours ambientboy ... |

The Noise Reduction may be able to take out some of the pop/clicks ect. but that's after the fact. - Try another sound card if possible. - Use quality cables. - Defragment and run Scandisc before recording. - Disable all running applications before recording. ie; screen savers, anti-virus, ect. See what's running by selecting Ctrl-Alt-Delete.Exit all applications except Explorer, then run Sound Forge. |

Also, as an addition to all the above suggestions, make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your hardware, especially your video card and the sound card. Video cards have been known to cause performance problems with audio applications. Also, make sure DMA is enabled on your hard drives. I think audio software should actually check to see if DMA is enabled on your record drive, and if not give you a prompt to try and enable it. Enabling the DMA usually doubles the performance level, and on a 400Mhz system, you might be running into performance issues. |
