Subject:Sound Forge 6.0 Glitches

I am running an Asus P4G8X motherboard system that contains a Pentium 4, 2.8 Ghz processor, containing 1 GB of DDR/PC2100 RAM configured in a Dual Channel Memory mode (Identical paired DIMMS). The Hard Drive is two Seagate 120 GB Serial ATA drives in a mirrored array.

I am running with a DAL CardDeluxe. I have placed this card in every available slot (1-5).

I was hearing some artifacts in recordings. I recorded a 440 Hz tone. The "Find / Glitch" function will find a glitch about every 1 minute. When I look at the glitch in close detail, the waveform is going along perfect and suddenly takes a drastic leap to some other level only in one spot, to continue on just perfect until the next glitch about a minute downstream.

Is this a Windows XP Pro problem that can be "tuned out"? Does anyone have any suggestions to optimize Windows XP Pro? Other audio application sometime will suggest turning off Indexing Service, which I did here, too.

Thanks,

Raymond Rider

Exit ALL non-essensial programs before recording/editing, ie: screen-savers, anti-virus, ect.
This helps with 98, ME, and XP home.
I have no experience with XP Pro.

As Windows is a generalised OS with many application, some specific optimaisations are required for successful audio operation. Apart from exiting shite like AV, Messenger and other irrelevant apps, check out :
