I am seeking any info on using an Edirol UA-1D audio interface. I am hoping that this will allow me to fill a missing link to getting stereo tracks into SF6.0 - I am using the ZOOM 1044 with s/pdif out into a SONY VAIO notebook running SF6.0 - The soundcard internal is horrible and I have difficulty bringing in analog signal(line vs. mic/good vs. evil). I am hoping that I can use the s/pdif to connect my console to the laptop. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. |

I haven't heard any big issues with that interface. You shouldn't have a problem. Remember that the UA-1D does 16-bit audio max. You might want to also consider the USB solutions from M-Audio or something like the UA-5 from Edirol. The Duo, Quattro and UA-5 all do 24-bit/96 kHz audio; the rest do 16-bit. HTH, Iacobus |

Iacobus, Thanks for the information. You raise a good point on the 16-bit limitation. Now this raises another question... If my console has a 20-bit output, will this affect the transfer of data and will I have problems with that setup? I am ready to pull the trigger on the UA-1D, but may need to look for a better product if there will be a challenge in compatability with bit-rate. Thoughts? |

hi, I dont recommend using soundforge with the UA-1D. Im having problems to get it working with my PC. the 16bit thing doesnt bother me because im just transferring from my PCM-M1 DAT (which is 16bit anyway) to PC. I suspect the problems are with soundforge and not the UA-1D. over this weekend i hope to try the UA-1d with another application to prove weather its the UA-d or SF thats causing the problems. anyway read back a few pages in this forum to see the dialog i shares with the guy that posted the first response. regards Jaime |
