Subject:new to SF - can you alter the key of a sound file?

Hi all first post here...

I was wondering if it's possible, and if yes, how would a person take a selection of a sound file, and change the key that it's in, to a different one? say a sound clip was in the key of G, and you wanted to try and make it into the key of A..

Even if it wouldn't sound totally natural or perfect, is it possible to do something like this? Thanks in advance.

Yep. Highlight the section and use Effects>Pitch>Shift on the menu bar. Be sure to pay attention to the options, like preserving duration.

Be aware, too, it does it in semitones and cents. Basically, one semitone represents half a step. (C to C# for example.) There are 100 cents to every semitone, so 50 cents equals half a semitone. (I hope I explained that right.)

HTH,
Iacobus
