I have some live music that I'm trying to transfer from minidisc to CD. The sets are under 74 minutes, but after recording them to SoFo in stereo at 16/44, the finished tracks are too big to fit on even an 80-minute CD, by a full 25 MB. Is there something unnecessary being added to these files that I can leave out? If not, can I downsample the music somehow so the full set will take up about 4% less space on disc? Thanks! |

Downsampling will not help if you are in fact trying to burn an audio CD and not a data CD. Check your CD burning parameters. Burn as Disc at Once. Unfortunatly SF supports only Track at Once burning, which adds more time. SF-CDA, Roxio, Nero and other apps will burn DAO CDs. With Nero, you can sometimes squeese a few extra minutes on some discs by overburning. |

File size is irrelevant (unless you are burning a data CD) since it includes file information, format data, metadata, etc. For redbook audio burning, the 'wall-clock' duration of the audio is all you need to worry about (plus the 2-second inter-track pauses for TAO). J. |

That's what I expected, but using Roxio's Easy CD creator in DAO mode, it stll says that the tracks, representing just under 72 minutes of music, won't fit on a blank 80-minute CD. Now, here's the funny thing: If I take the original single track in Sound Forge, I can use SoFo to copy this track to CD. Save the file to disc and try to do the same thing using Easy CD Creator, no go--it reports, again, that the file's too big. ??? |

Very bizarre. I can usually fit about 73.8 minutes on a 650MB CD-R and about 79.2 minutes on a 700MB CD-R with any burning software. Since you are able to do this with Sound Forge, i'm guessing that your Easy CD Creator installation has gotten trashed. I'd suggest uninstalling and reinstalling it. I presume you've tried other blanks? |

Between uninstalling and reinstalling it, and then applying the latest update to the software, I got Easy CD Creator to behave. Thanks for the help. |
