I'm new to Sound Forge and am a bit overwhelmed by the array of options it offers, so I apologize in advance if this post stirs up some RTFM sentiments. I'm editing a voiceovers where the breathing of the speaker is consistently louder than I'd like. I'm able to get it where I want it by clicking the volume button on the toolbar and choosing a preset I created from the menu. But I'm looking at doing this hundreds, if not thousands of times as I edit, and even though I can do it quickly, I'd like to cut out unnecessary steps. Is there any way to assign a volume adjustment preset to a custom button that I can attach to a toolbar. |

If you are using the same preset over and over, then maybe you can use the Repeat functionality (Ctrl+Y). Otherwise, no, there are no user-definable buttons in Sound Forge other than the two custom zoom levels. The Process toolbar has the Volume button that brings up the dialog if you haven't found it yet. You can Shift+click it to apply the last used preset without bringing up the dialog (like the Repeat function). FWIW, I use menu pneumonics a lot to key my way through menus pretty quickly, including Sound Forge, with very little practice. Process->Volume, for example, is Alt+P, V, then the preset window already has focus, so arrow keys control the preset, Alt+P previews, and Enter applies it. J. |

I'm disappointed there are no user-definable buttons, but the Shift-Click trick is almost as good in my situation. Thanks very much! |
