Folks: I am using Easy CDCreator 4, which allows me to extra a CD track MP3 setting [56K at 22Khz] which is almost ideal for me (a good compromise between space and quality). I can't seem to find an equivalent setting when I am using SF to sample an incoming audio signal (from a tape player). Should I be using 22Khz at 8 bit or 16 bit sampling? Or should I sample at the highest setting (44Khz) and then save it as MP3 at the fidelity that I want? Since the tape is already lower quality, I am guessing that it doesn't make sense to sample at 44Khz but I could be wrong. Any advice is appreciated. Regards, - Alex - alexn@bluesamba.com |

MP3 is a lossey format and should be used only as final output. Unless HDD space is a concern I'd edit it in 44/16 then resample and bit convert to the final output. I would archive the original 44/16 unedited as *.wav or *.pca on data CD for future editing if need be. MJ |
