Subject:recording left channel signal only

when I record onto sound forge using the mic input, I only get a left channel signal. I used different cables, and different mics(all of them being stereo). Everything in my sound properties is working alright, and set to where they need to be. I have my record options set to stereo. please help!

Your mic input is mono, using a stereo jack will produce the results you are seeing.

I have recorded MANY times using the mic input, and recieved a stereo result

What is your soundcard - is the mic input mono or stereo ? Maybe before you were recording a 2 x left channel signal.

What record properties have you set ?
