OK, so maybe it's because it's 30deg Celcius, the humidity is unbearable, and the fact that I'm running an Athlon, but... The "Megabytes left/usable" at the bottom right corner is screwed up when I'm playing back a song. It comes back 1 out every 2 times I restart SF, but when it doesn't, it reads like unknown characters followed by MB. Again, it might be the heat. Bringing up my Mia Console during playback caused a hard freeze. I needed to reboot the PC. Anybody else have these wierd characters instead of numbers in that section? M |

MyST, i haven't seen it there, but i did have this problem with Vegas for a while: http://www.chienworks.com/media/weirdvegas4buttons.gif and i've occasionally had times where various characters start turning into blocks and lines when it's close to reboot time. Apparently when resources get low, the Windows font rendering engine doesn't have enough room to work in and just sorta ... well ... punts. I never did find a cause or solution to the Vegas buttons problem, but after i did an OS upgrade and reinstalled everything the buttons were fine. |

Chien, When this happens in Win9x and probably the other Win OS's it's usually because the shelliconcash file has become corrupt. The simple cure is to delete the shelliconcash file from the Windows folder (Win 9x) as it will be recreated on startup. For the timid, simply search for the shelliconcash file > cut & paste to another folder for safe keeping, then after several reboots with no problems delete it. MyST. I don't think your symptoms would be helped by this, sounds like a font problem. You might try MS KB and search under your OS for something like "corrupt AND fonts". While this one says it applies to Win 95 it solves the problem in Win 98 also. Description of and Troubleshooting the Marlett TrueType Font MJ |

Thanks for the help. I'll wait this out till the temp gets more reasonable, because I've never noticed it before. If it sticks around, I'll try uninstalling/reinstalling SF. M |
