I've got SoundForge 6.0 (just updated to 6.0e an hour ago), and when saving MPEG2 audio with the MainConcept filetype, I cannot select CUSTOM. I can click on it, and it will do nothing. It was not working before the update either (sole reason I updated to 6.0e today, was on 6.0a before that). I want to create my own template or alter some existing settings, but I need into the CUSTOM area to do so. Have any ideas what is going wrong? And how to fix it?

The MPEG2 MainConcept plug-in is an additional applet you will have to purchase if you want to convert and save MPEGs 1&2.

Umm, yeah, I've already done that (in 2002). The point is that it won't work properly.

I can only use one of the prelisted templates. I am unable to click on the CUSTOM button to access the custom functions of the plug-in.

I did it once long ago, but haven't needed to fiddle with customizing in quite a while (last year probably). Now it just won't work. A re-install didn't help. Nor did the update.

I can save just fine, just unable to get any menu to come up when I click CUSTOM. All other formats seem to be just fine when I click CUSTOM.

And if it didn't have custom options, like some of them don't, the CUSTOM button would not have even appeared.

What other SF apps have you purchased and installed?

Did you purchase the MPEG plug-in separately or did it come with another app? Either way, I have a feeling this is an install issue. Contact tech support and they will set you straight.

This is the only Sonic Foundry product I have on this computer. Both of them were purchased together, though it's been a while, so I'm not sure when or from whom. It's the PRO version of the MPEG encoder, and the SF6 upgrade from SF5. It worked in the past, but not now, even after I reinstalled the programs. I'm not seeing how it could be an install error. Another error, sure, but I'd have a hard time believing its an install issue given the reinstall. It's hard to mess up the install when it almost completely automated.

I still suggest you contact tech support and have your registration info handy.
