I change my motherboard (for a new asus a7v8x), put in Win 98 S.E. ( I always used), and the Soud Forge 6.0 frezzes my works for a few seconds (for example - Normalizing the music).
Thanks for help, suggestions

When you changed your motherboard did you remove ALL hardware in Device Manager prior to the last shutdown before installing the new motherboard? If not you should have or deleted an *enum* key (forgot offhand which since I use the Device Manager method) in the registry.

Whether you did or not, boot to Safe Mode, usually by holding Ctrl or F8 during POST (Power On Self Test), go to Device Manager and look for duplicates and/or no longer installed hardware or *unknown devices* and remove EVERY instance and it's child device *accept* in the System or USB tree. The only acceptable duplicates should be in System (usually Steering Holders) and USB entries.

These will NOT show in Normal Mode, they are only exposed in Safe Mode.

Reboot to Normal and Windows 98 will detect new hardware if need be and the virtual installations will be eliminated.

Or, if this was a "clean install (formatted disk)" check for latest drivers for all hardware and IRQ sharing especially with sound card and video adapter and ANY other device except Steering Holders. I've installed "brand new" motherboards and other hardware that had obsolete drivers shipped with it on the CD.

If you are attempting to use an onboard sound chip you may never realize acceptable results in that case. Use a PCI soundcard.
