I have some old DAT tapes I want to edit and master. I have recently been using ADAT Edit for my ADAT recordings, so that is my frame of reference. I am considering software and would like to know if I can convert SPDIF to ADAT using Soundforge or if another product is better? can I add audio and or MIDI tracks to Soundforge on top of the SPDIF file? If not then I need some way to get it into the Adat Edit. I have an old DAT master of a band which is now very successful, so its important to me to make it sound as good as possible on my limited budget. Thank You. songpro@msn.com |

"can I add audio and or MIDI tracks to Soundforge on top of the SPDIF file?" What is a SPDIF file? There is no such thing as a SPDIF file that I know of. SPDIF, stands for SONY/PHILLIPS DIGITAL INTERFACE FORMAT. It's a FORMAT, which allows transfer of Digital information from one device to another. You're asking a question like "I sing into a microphone and that microphone has an AES/EBU connector at the end.....can I put a midi file and additional vocals on top of that connector?" |
