What would you recommend for running vegas & sound forge with an echo interface. I'm giving up on my g3, and want to put a new processor & motherboard into my pc. I've already got a 120gb HD waiting to be put in, and I'm looking at spending around $350 to take my 366mhz school use pc to a recording machine. A specific recommendation would be awesome, 'cause I'm gonna be doing this pretty soon, and am not knowledgable as to what all is available. Thanks- you can also write me at iron00monkey@hotmail.com |

I have no problems with Vegas 4 on a WinXP Celeron 1GHz machine (MOTU with ASIO drivers) with projectswith typically 15 to 25 tracks. Just have to be careful to buss reverbs rather than inline, but we should all be doing that anyway, eh ? ;-) geoff |

EQ magizine (AUG 2003 issue) just ran an article on building an audio PC for $400. www.eqmag.com |

I built a system soley around audio processing work. (1) Digital audio labs card (2) P4 2.4 (3) 2 GB RAM (4) 2 Hard drives -- one for processing of data and the other for storage (5) the Drives are backed up automatically This system works seemlessly -- and I recommend that you get one with at least 3 PCI slots so that you can have dedicated sound inputs for different sources. |
