Hiya,

I am trying to insert a silence of equal lenght at the begining and end of WAV files in sound Forge 6. I was hoping there was an automatic way to do this as I have loads of these files to do. Does anyone know if Sound Forge can do this? is there a macro or something similiar that will automate the process?

No, but if you hold down the Shift key while selecting the Insert Silence menu item or toolbar button, it will skip the dialog and apply the last used settings. So as long as you dial in the length and make sure the insertion point is at the cursor, you can do this pretty quick with Ctrl+Home and Ctrl+End to seek to the edges, then Shift+click or Alt+P, Shift+I. This is true for most Sound Forge dialogs.
