I have some live recordings with a really horrible thumping and buzzing bass (you can just barely hear the words in the songs). I downloaded the Sonic Foundry Trial to see if it would remove the problem, but I know nothing about working with sound. Could someone talk (type) me through the steps to fix the recordings? So I could buy the program with confidence that it'll do what I need it to. Or maybe direct me to a website that would explain it simply. I tried the program help files, but they used a lot of technical terms that I don't understand yet. Dorian |

If you would like to email a short piece (10 seconds) of one of the recordings, I'll be glad to see what needs to be done, and write a short description for you. Send to SPAMdon-mcgeeSPAM@att.net (take out the "SPAM" from the address). |

Don, just for future reference, you might want to use something other than "SPAM" when munging your email address. Most spam-bot harvesters are probably intelligent enough to remove "SPAM" and "NOSPAM" types of strings when they see them. |

Thanks, Chien. You know, I should have been smart enough to figure that out. Goes to show you that an old dog CAN learn a new trick. Thanks, -Don |

FYI, Chien, I looked at Dorian's file. It was clipped so bad I really couldn't do anything with it. It looked maybe 20 dB too hot. The bass peaks, when they clipped, lost ALL of the high freq info. |
