I have spent hours just experimenting and am feeling like I'm not getting anywhere. All I want to do at this point is load a song from a file (which I've learned) and edit it (i.e. shave off 1-2 minutes while providing a smooth transition). Is there a class or something of some sort that is available for the technically challenged person such as myself?

One thing they are NOT is step-by-step instructions for the compleat idiot, or the normal beginner. The FAQ are very useful, but you have to get somewhere before you have a question specific enough to match the answers. At the risk of insulting CruzDncr I refer him to a previous post (http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=207608&Page=2). It bears mentioning that some of the most valuable tools for editing sound require SF6 the full version, and not SF Studio. I'm referring to Noise Reduction. I don't know if all of this is relevant to someone coming to this from the soundblaster direction.
