Subject:Sound Forge 7 beta?

Continuing SoFo's long tradition, can anyone confirm whether they'll be a beta of SF 7? The feature of undo-ing saves looks potentially great to me; I've longed to be able to do this to aid integration with Vegas.

As an aside, it looks like it's going to branded as by 'Sony'. A sad day - the end of an era and what I reckon to be the coolest sounding brand in audio software. Sony Sound Forge really doesn't have the ring to it, or perhaps even cred? And, us being audio-only guys, is it just me, or does the whole Sony <Picture> Digital thing slightly concern you?

I was warned off Sony audio equipment recently, by a salesclerk, who said "Go to Sony for video stuff but stick to others for audio."

there isn't going to be a public beta. It's about to be released. Don't worry about the Sony thing. It's all good, as far as I can tell.

Hope so Charles. I do think the demise of the name 'Sonic Foundry' is a shame. Such a strong brand - maybe would have made sense for Sony to keep it? The fact that the new brand has 'Pictures' in the title does worry me a little.

Like Charles says, don't worry it's all good. So far it's business as usual, and then some. It's still Sound Forge, just has a new brand name badge on it.

A little evidence maybe that the more things change, the more they stay the same (hopefully);

Adding to what Red said, Sony's (formerly SoFo's) line of apps is first and foremost geared as production tools, not only for those who do video production but also audio production.

Vegas is an example; it can not only be used for video production but also as an audio multitracker.

Sony knows a good thing when it sees one. I think they know it would be not good when you mess around with a formula that already works.
