I'm a dj and I have edited my music with soundforge but my mixes are continuous and I need to split a 30 minute mix into 10 or more tracks that will play on a regular cd player but wont cut off after every track and then continue on the next one. Can anyone help. please e-mail me at

Your problem can be solved in several ways.

(1) Select regions with respect to known time intervals
(2) Export them as several files
(2a) part 1 let say the first 10 minutes
(2b) part 2 the second 10 minutes, etc.

Now that you have manually identified, selected and created composite wave files that are named in logical and sequential fashion

Go to your software fro making cd's lay the tracks down with an increment of zero seconds between each track.
I know that nero permits this feature with ease, and CD architect does too.

Burn your cd's and your done. I do this sort of thing probably 10 ten times per week. It is very easy routine, and the only hard part is deciding when to split your tracks.

Ahhhh...seems like you're wasting alot of extra time doing anything in Sound Forge if you're using Nero or CD Architect. This all can easily be achieved in Nero or CD Architect very easily without doing any splitting and saving of the individual tracks within Sound Forge first.

Hello Rednroll,

How would you accomplish the same task? Please explain because I need to make this process faster for myself. Additionally I need to have each file as a separate track in case the particular track is of interest to anyone in the future. I am seeking positive advice for this particular effort.

Thanks -
Kevin

In CDA put the marker where you want the next track number and push <T> . That's it !

If you want a gap, push <S> instead, to split the event, then drag it out to the desired gap, then choose "make tracks from med=ia events" or whatever the tool is. If splitting, you will need to add small fade in/outs to make in sound more natural, rather than suddenly cutting to digital silence for the gaps...

To split in SForge, I highlight bits of the source event, <cut>, and then <paste to new>. Be sure to name each new bit as you go, or you'll get lost !

In Nero:
1. Add The entire file as a track.
2. Right click on that track and select "properties" or double left click
3. Goto the "Indexes, Limits, Splits" Tab.
4. You'll see the waveform draw out.
5. Locate your cursor to where you want to put a new ID
6. Hit the "split" button, do this for additional track ID's.
7. Hit "OK"
8. If you want space between the tracks.
Click on the New track and again select "properties" and goto the "Track" properties" tab. Set the gap space you would like before the track.
9. If you want no gap between the tracks, do the above and set to "0" seconds. Don't set Traack 1 to "0", leave this at the default of 2 seconds to keep the CD redbook compliant.

Hello - Rednroll,

Which version of Nero are you using? I have had much success with Nero 5.5, and I was gonna re-install CDA5, but I was not sure if it is really worth the time and aggravation.

I have v5.5 and v6.0. This feature has been in Nero since 5.0 I believe. If you have v5.5, it's in there. It isn't as nice as CD architect though. When you open the indexes and splits, tab within Nero, it starts to draw the waveform which takes a very long time. I once, opened an .MP3 of an entire CD to place some track ID's and it took Nero over 15minutes just to draw the waveform. You can usually count on 1-2 minutes sometimes per song of draw time.
