Please tell me what the features listed numerically below actually do, and perhaps an example of their usefullness.

When it is available, I may upgrade to SF7, just to be current. However my usage of SF6 is pretty comfortable, however effects automation, is very important to me.

So please if time permits, just comment on the items below.

(3) Drag-and-drop CD extraction

I'd say write off any sort of answer, at least for now.
I tried to start a thread for a bit more detail. Nothing came of it.

But I'll watch this one as well - maybe second tries will get an answer

I'll try to answer most of these, though some I'm not 100% on.

(1) Prerecord buffer
Buffer, for users that use sound forge to do punch-in recording, allows for tighter punch-ins.

(2) VU/PPM meters for RMS playback and record monitoring
A VU, meter simulates how the human ear perceives loudness, thus an eccential mastering tool for getting levels between songs to match with one another. The VU is on the playback or real-time monitoring on the record window.
(3) Drag-and-drop CD extraction
Goto your CDrom and drag and drop the .CDA file into Sound Forge and it will automatically, extract it into a .WAV. You can select from multiple drives and drag and drop.
(4) Enhanced Spectrum Analysis tools
Same Spectrum Analysis, with a few more key components for doing mastering, like matching up spectral curves between songs, so they tonally sound the same.
(5) White, pink, and brown noise generators
These noise generators are for doing sound reinforment accoustical work, like tuning a studio mixing room, or any other acoustical environment.
(6) Simple synthesis sweep
The ability to generate sweeps easily. Say you want to ensure nothing rattles within your studio. You can generate a sweep sinewave from 20Hz-20Khz, and play it back, and listen for the rattles.
(7) Sound Forge project file creation
Like Vegas, .VEG files. Sound Forge can save in all the formats, but this one allows you to save all your automation, undo information, FX's and such.
(8) File editing and conversion enhancements
Not too clear on this one....I think you can do some kind of editing within the compressed formats, like .MP3, .WMA, .PCA, .OGG, and it will not need to recompress the format upon save.

Thanks -- I really appreciate it.

"Same Spectrum Analysis, with a few more key components for doing mastering, like matching up spectral curves between songs, so they tonally sound the same" --- This is very interesting to me!!! I need to do more advance low-level processing in Sound Forge -- I would have never considered such a task.
